Well, this post is all about containers :)
I've bought some new containers - 300ml glass containers which are cream gloss on the outside! So - slightly bigger than my other container candles but I'm excited about them being cream rather than frosted. I'm going to fill them with soy wax gorgeously fragranced with essential oils and I'm going to put them in boxes too.
I've signed up for the Jubilee fete in Newton Mearns on Saturday 2nd June so I'll make a batch to sell there - can't wait!

Great news - I made my first trade sale :) A small order to a craft workshop/gift shop of 10 soy candles (various scents) - I am over the moon and hope it will be the first of many :)
I've also got a lovely local gift shop helping me with market research on scent throw, packaging, burn quality etc which I'm delighted about.
I've also been at another craft fair since I last posted - the Bird & Bell craft fair in Giffnock, Glasgow.
Unfortunately, it was very disappointing :( It was the first fair and maybe it just needs a while to become established. Also, I'm not convinced it had been well advertised. However, I did make my table hire cost back and a bit extra so nothing ventured, nothing gained. And on the plus side I got some fab tips from the other crafters on fairs, contacts etc. So, one to put done to experience and looking forward to my next fair - whatever that may be :)

Well a lot has been happening since my last post...
I made 98 candles for the charity coffee morning! 50 scented paraffin candles and 48 soy candles fragranced with essential oils. Fragrances ranged from Strawberry & Rhubarb (my best seller) to Lemongrass & Lavender.
It was a mad rush to get all the candles made on time and labelled up as well as printing price lists but I got there in the end and thoroughly enjoyed it.
The morning itself was very enjoyable and I met lots of lovely people and got lots of feedback on my candles. I also sold a third of my stock so I was very pleased indeed :) I also sold out of a couple of fragrances in soy candles and got an order for another Lemongrass & Lavender which made me really happy :))
I was also thrilled to get a trade enquiry from a lady who runs a lovely craft/gift shop and I'm currently working on a proposal, so hopefully we can find a way to work together.
I'm now looking into other craft/charity fairs to attend and am keen to do one in the next couple of months to keep things moving along.

Very exciting tonight! I've made my first batch of soy container candles fragranced with Lemongrass & Lavender for the charity coffee morning - they smell absolutely gorgeous and I know from my research and development that they give an excellent hot scent throw due to the quality of the essential oils and the ideal wick :)
I've made 10 small votives and 2 large containers. The kitchen smells amazing too (nice little bonus)!
Today I bought labels for the paraffin candles I'll be making and I've ordered some raffia ribbon for the soy candles - so I need to find some time to design my labels :)
Hopefully tomorrow night I'll be able to make 2 batches of soy containers - Geranium Bergamot and Lavender as well as Peppermint Lavender and Rosemary - will keep you all posted.

Ok I must be crazy - I've signed up to take a candle stall at a charity coffee morning on 31st March! I know I always work better to a deadline but I think this one is a bit tight. I do have a good triple wick candle that I have perfected but I still need to finalise my formula for a small and large votive (soy with essential oils) and a large votive using recycled paraffin wax.
So it's busy busy in the kitchen most nights as I continue with my experiments...

Hi, welcome to my blog :)
I love candles and everthing about them! I've spent many years buying all sorts of candles from tealights to containers to pillar candles - scented and unscented - you name it and I've probably bought it.
I'm also an IT Manager and for many years I've longed to do something creative.
So it seemed like a good idea to start making my own candles :)
This log will detail my journey through the world of candlemaking - the good, the bad and the ugly!!!
